A 23-year-old son of a barangay captain in Tinambac, Camarines Sur was arrested for shooting and seriously wounding a kagawad on Sunday, Police Regional Office 5 director Brigadier General Arnel B. Escobal said yesterday.
Aldrin Tuy, a driver residing in Zone 1, Bgy. San Vicente, accompanied by his mother Gemma, the chairwoman of Bgy. San Vicente, surrendered to the Tinambac Municipal Police Station shortly after the 12 noon shooting in Zone 7, the Bicol police director said.
According to Escobal, the suspect shot kagawad Edgar Nepas, a resident of Zone 3, before fleeing on foot. Four hours later, her mother turned him over to the local police.
The suspect who will be facing a frustrated murder case said he lost the gun he used in the attack.
Escobal said an old grudge could have triggered the shooting.
The victim who suffered a gunshot wound in the abdomen is now undergoing treatment at the Bicol Medical Center in Naga City.
