A NOTORIOUS member of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) said to be involved in the Isulan Bombing was killed in a law enforcement operation before dawn in Maguindanao.
The slain suspect was identified as Norodin Taib.
Reports reaching Camp Aguinaldo showed the incident occurred at around 2 a.m. at Sitio Lab, Barangay Kuloy, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao
Initial investigation said combined troops of 601st Infantry Brigade went to the area following reports that a notorious bomber was hiding in the place.
Accordingly, while the troops were moving towards the house of the suspect, the latter suddenly threw a homemade hand grenade prompting the troops to return fire that led to the killing of the suspect.
Five of the suspect’s companions managed to escape at the height of the incident.
It was learned that the suspects were involved in the bombing in Kudarat last August 28 and September 2, 2018.
The government forces also recovered one improvised explosive device, two improvised hand grenades, three cellphones and subversive documents.
Joint Task Force Commander Major General Cirilito E. Sobejana commended the 601st Brigade for the neutralization of another BIFF member from their law enforcement support operation against for bombing incidents in Central Mindanao.
“We will continue to conduct military operations with the assistance of the Philippine National Police, the local government, and the civilians to stop them from doing their terroristic activities,” Sobejana said.
