Boat sinks in Leyte, 1 dead

A WOMAN on Monday died while 15 others were rescued when a motorboat they were riding capsized off  Southern Leyte.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) identified the victim as Adelaida Araneta Palero, a resident of the province.

Palero and her group, including a priest, were on the boat sailing off  Padre Burgos and Limasawa Island when they were hit by big waves at 3:33 p.m. on Monday.

A team from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) immediately responded and rushed the victims to a Rural Health Unit, where Palero was declared dead on arrival.
