A STRING of anti-criminality operations in Bulacan on Sunday resulted in the killing of an armed drug trafficking suspect during a shootout with undercover officers in Norzagaray town and the arrest of eight others, Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Chito G. Bersaluna reported yesterday.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel, the official identified the slain ‘drug ‘watchlisted’ suspect as Arnold de Mesa, a 48-year-old resident of Phase 5 NHV, Barangay Tigbe in Norzagaray.
Bersaluna said members of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Norzagaray Municipal Police Station headed by Major Avelino Protacio were forced to fire at the suspect when he began shooting at them after sensing the ongoing entrapment operation in his neighborhood at 10 p.m. Sunday.
The slain suspect yielded a loaded caliber .38 revolver, six heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia and a marked P500 bill paid to him by a poseur.
Bersaluna said the slain suspect’s wife identified as Miriam was also arrested during the operation and is now facing charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs.
Two other suspects identified as Mark Joseph Atacator alias ‘Buda,’22; and Jachuckie Boy Palomares alias ‘Bombet,’22, were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Pulilan and Bulakan municipalities.
