AGENTS of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office shot dead two armed drug dealers and arrested 17 others in a string of anti-narcotics operations in the province on Tuesday and early morning yesterday, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said.
The slain suspects were identified as Benjie Virtudaza and Carlo Garga, both included in the watch list of the Pulilan Municipal Police Station.
According to Pulilan police chief, Lieutenant Colonel Gil Domingo, the two exchanged fire with undercover officers in Barangay Sto. Cristo around 1:15 a.m. yesterday and were killed when officers retaliated in self-defense.
The gunbattle erupted shortly after the duo sensed they were being entrapped. Recovered from the suspects’ possession were two loaded caliber .38 revolvers, nine heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, the boodle money topped by a marked P500 bill and a motorcycle without plate number.
The other suspects, one of them a 15-year old male, were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Meycauayan and San Jose del Monte cities and the municipalities of Bocaue, Hagonoy, San Rafael and Baliwag.
Recovered from the suspects were 48 plastic sachets containing the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ and marked money paid to them by undercover officers.
