Bulacan cops kill 4, nab 35 in anti-drug campaign

FOUR armed drug trafficking suspects were killed in gunbattles with Bulacan police while 35 others were arrested since last Monday, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Chief Superintendent Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said yesterday.

Two of the suspects identified as Jay Gonzales alias’ Kirat’ and Erick Puebla were shot dead in clashes with drug enforcement officers of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office on Tuesday, said local police director, Senior Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna.

The official said that Gonzales exchanged fire with undercover officers in Block 10, Northville 3 in Barangay Bayugo, Meycauayan City where he sold shabu to a poseur around 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Meycauayan City police chief, Supt. Heryl Bruno said the slain suspect was also involved in robbery-holdup and ‘Basag-Kotse’ activities in the city and its nearby towns. Recovered from the possession of the suspect were a loaded caliber .38 Smith & Wesson revolver, two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a plastic packet with dried marijuana leaves, a digital weighing scale and the marked money he received from the agent.

The second suspect identified as Puebla, a resident of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City who is included in the watch list of the Balagtas Municipal Police Station was killed in a firefight in Bgy. Pulong Gubat around 1 a.m. yesterday.

The suspect yielded 10 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a cal. .38 revolver with three live ammunition and a spent casing, a motorcycle and the buy-bust money.

The other slain suspects were identified as Gary Israel de la Cruz,26, a resident of Sampaguita Street, Bgy. Panasahan in Malolos City and Gwynette Kylee Hong, a resident of Sevilla Street, also in Malolos.

Malolos City Police Station chief, Supt. Emery Abating said the two suspects exchanged fire with undercover officers after they sensed the entrapment operation in Club Royale Resort in Bgy. Mabolo around 8:30 p.m. Monday.

Both were killed on the spot.

Bersaluna said 35 other known drug dealers in the province were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in the municipalities of Obando, Bulakan, Pulilan, San Miguel, Calumpit, Hagonoy, San Rafael, San Ildefonso, Plaridel and Bocaue and San Jose del Monte City.

Recovered from the suspects’ possession were 33 plastic sachets with suspected “shabu”, seven plastic sachets containing dried marijuana leaves and the marked money paid to them by undercover operatives.
