STEPPED-UP anti-narcotics operations by the Bulacan Police Provincial Office over the past 48-hours led to the killing of two armed suspects in gunbattles with undercover officers and the arrest of 15 others, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said.

The two slain suspects were identified as Allan Nuela, a 37-year old resident of Barangay Longos in Calumpit and Michael Lasala, a man whose name was included in the drug watch list of both the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Philippine National Police.

Nuela was killed in a firefight with members of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Pulilan Municipal Police Station under Lieutenant Colonel Gil Domingo at around 1:15 a.m. yesterday.

The suspect had just sold shabu to an undercover agent when he sensed the sting and tried to shoot the cop. Back-up agents retaliated and shot the suspect dead.

The slain suspect yielded nine heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, the marked money paid to him by the poseur and a caliber .38 revolver with two live ammunition and three spent casings in its cylinder.

On the other hand, suspect Lasala was gunned down by undercover officers of the San Jose del Monte City Police Station headed by Lt. Col. Orlando Castil during a gunbattle in Bgy. Gaya-Gaya around 12:15 a.m. yesterday. The slain suspect was found in possession of a loaded cal. .38 revolver, 12 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, the buy-bust money and a matte gray Yamaha Mio motorcycle which he used to deliver the drugs.

Bulacan police director, Col. Chito G. Bersaluna said that the 15 other drug-dealing suspects were arrested in a series of buy-bust operations in Baliwag, San Rafael, Santa Rafael, Bulakan, Plaridel, and Bustos municipalities.
