SEVEN people on Monday died while 23 others were injured after two buses collided head on in Compostela Valley.
Traffic investigator PO3 Barry Castillo said among the fatalities were two pregnant women and the driver of the Metro Shuttle Bus.
Police are verifying the names of the fatalities and those injured.
Castillo said the Metro Shuttle Bus was heading to New Bataan, Compostela Valley when one of its wheels exploded and the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The bus encroached the opposite lane and collided with an incoming Davao City-bound Bachelor Express Inc. bus on Davao-Butuan highway, Purok 91 in Bgy. Magsaysay, Nabunturan town past 1 p.m. on Monday.
Police said all injured passengers were rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.
The Philippine Motorists Commuters Alliance reminded anew operators of passenger buses to tell their drivers to be extra vigilant and ensure the vehicles are roadworthy to avoid accidents.
