POLICE last Wednesday arrested four suspected drug personalities in Lanao del Norte following simultaneous anti-narcotics operations which led to the seizure of a cache of drugs and high-powered weapons and ammunition, a report to Philippine National Police chief, General Debold M. Sinas said yesterday.
Arrested during the raids in Pawak, Salvador, Lanao del Norte were Abdullah Macatangcop alias ‘Opaw Casan Macatangcop,’21; Alex Macatanong,48; Khalid Macatangcop,26; and Mahomod Agul,23, said Police Regional Office 10 director, Brigadier Gen. Rolando B. Anduyan.
Anduyan said that local policemen, with the support of operatives from the PNP Special Action Force and the Philippine Army conducted the operations.
He said that Macatanong was arrested after he sold drugs to an undercover officer. Recovered from the suspect who was tagged as a ‘high-value individual’ were a big plastic sachet containing around 51 grams of shabu worth P346,800, a weighing scale and the boodle money topped by a marked P500 bill.
Khalid Macatangcop yielded an estimated P35 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ valued at P238,000 and the boodle money paid to him by a poseur.
Officers later raided the house of Abdullah Macatangcop on the strength of a warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Alberto Quinto of the Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte Regional Trial Court Branch 21 and another search warrant for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.
A P200,000 bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the suspect in connection with his drug case.
Recovered inside his house were an M-14 automatic rifle with two magazines containing 47 rounds of live ammunition and a plastic sachet containing an estimated 53 grams of shabu worth P360,400.
All the suspects are being held at the Salvador police jail and facing appropriate criminal charges, said Anduyan.
