Cache of weapons, ammo confiscated

A CACHE of high-powered weapons and ammunition was seized by agents of the Police Regional Office 9 in separate anti-crime operations in the region last Saturday and Sunday, PRO9 director, Brigadier General Emmanuel Luis D. Licup said yesterday.

Licup said that those operations also resulted in the arrest of five men who are now facing charges for violation of the Omnibus Election Code and Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.

The official said three of the suspects identified as Ryan Talara, 36; Matan Gon, 37; and Mark Ata, 36, were arrested by Army soldiers manning a checkpoint along the national highway in Barangay Bogayo, Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur Saturday evening.

Recovered from the three suspects who were on board a jeep were one caliber .45 pistol and two automatic rifles whose records are now being checked by the Kumalarang Municipal Police Station with the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office.
