MAGSAYSAY, Davao del Sur – Joint efforts of the local police and the Davao del Sur Mobile Force (DSMFC), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), led to the arrest of a carpenter who doubled as seller of illegal drugs on Saturday night.
Maj. Jeffmar Tercero, Magsaysay town police chief, identified the suspect as Louiefell Laspeño Caballero, 34, resident of Purok Silahis in Barangay Blocon.
Caballero yielded one small sachet of suspected shabu during the buy-bust operation and another sachet in his possession during a body search after his arrest.
The marked P500 bill used by the poseur-buyer during the transaction was also recovered by the law enforcers.
In a report released on Sunday, Tercero said curbing the proliferation of illegal drugs in different parts of their area of responsibility “seemed too tedious” but they are working on some concrete steps to at least reduce it.
“Despite having full knowledge of its ill-effects on our health, drug addiction still undeniably exists. Nevertheless, this cannot stop us to continue making solid pace in loosening its grip towards having a drug-free community,” Tercero said. PNA
