A TOP drug trafficker in Talisay City in Cebu was killed in a shootout with local policemen who were out to arrest him in his residence on Sunday, Police Regional Office 7 director, Brigadier General Debold M. Sinas announced yesterday.
Suspect Jackson Bonghanoy Segundino exchanged fire with members of the Talisay City Police Station who tracked him down in his hiding place in Sitio Maghaway and was killed in the process, the official said.
According to Sinas, the slain suspect is listed as the Top 4 Most Wanted Person in Talisay City who is the subject of two warrants of arrest for murder. He said that officers were forced to fire at the suspect when he started shooting at them as they came to arrest him.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital where an attending physician declared him dead upon arrival, Sinas said.
The official said that prior to the gunbattle, Segundino has been the target of a massive police manhunt amid his involvement in the killing of some local barangay officials. “He was also monitored to be planning to kill police anti-narcotics agents in the city to avenge the killing of some of his armed colleagues in a series of buy-bust operations last year,” said Sinas.
