ANOTHER ‘high-value’ drug target in Cebu City was arrested by the local police in an entrapment operation which resulted in the confiscation of nearly P2 million worth of shabu, Police Regional Office 7 director, Brigadier General Debold M. Sinas announced yesterday.
Suspect Marylou Agular Cabahug, a 28-year old resident of Sitio Kiosko in Barangay Basak Pardo, Cebu City was placed under arrest after she sold drugs to an undercover officer of the Criminal Investigation Branch of the Cebu City Police Office headed by Colonel Royina Marzan, said the official.
According to Sinas, officers led by Lieutenant Colonel Carlito Apilat recovered 19 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing around 275 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P1.870 million from the suspect’s possession during the sting in Sitio Kiosko past 9 p.m. last Sunday.
Cabahug was the latest suspected ‘HVT’ in Central Visayas to be arrested by PRO7 operatives since Wednesday last week.
Last Sunday, Cebu City policemen arrested Marvin Saberon alias ‘Ogis,’32, a resident of Sitio Lahing-Lahing in Bgy. Mabolo, Cebu City after he sold nearly P3 million worth of shabu to a poseur.
Sinas said that Saberon yielded 18 plastic sachets containing some 430 grams of shabu worth P2,924,000 and the boodle money topped by one marked P1,000 bill.
Prior to the arrest of Saberon, PRO7 operatives since last Wednesday also arrested five known ‘HVT’s in the region in separate buy-bust operations which led in the confiscation of nearly P6 million worth of shabu, Sinas said.
One of the suspects identified as Sherwin Seville Simbahon alias ‘Tikwi,’ a 25-year old resident of Sitio Camalig in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City was arrested by the local police under Colonel Marzan after he sold drugs to an undercover officer at 2:30 p.m. Friday, the official said.
Sinas said that members of the Special Operations Unit 5 of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group, the Cebu City Police Office and the PRO7 Regional Special Operations Group and Regional Intelligence Division recovered a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing 25 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P170,000 and a loaded caliber .45 pistol from the suspect.
Another sting inside the Ludo Cemetery in Bgy. Carreta, Cebu City 11:20 p.m. Friday led in the arrest of suspected big-time drug dealer Ernesto Labor alias ‘Baludoy,’25, a resident of Sitio Ponce in the same barangay.
Sinas said that officers led by Major Dindo Juanito Alaras recovered a plastic packet containing 560 grams of shabu with a local market value of P3.08 milion, assorted drug paraphernalia including plastic sachets, a weighing scale, a cal. .45 pistol with a magazine containing six live ammunition, P5,000 cash believed to be part of the suspect’s drug proceeds and the marked money paid by a poseur to Labor during the sting.
Around 4:25 p.m. Thursday, members of the Cebu City Police Drug Enforcement Unit led by Major Chuck Barandog arrested Ronald Romo alias ‘Daryl, 32, a driver residing in F. Rallos Street, Bgy. Pasil, Cebu City during a buy-bust operation which led in the recovery of nine plastic sachets containing 135 grams of shabu worth P918 and the boodle money topped by a marked P500 bill.
Another operation in Sitio Cekalco in Bgy. Labangon, Cebu City around 5:20 a.m. last Wednesday led in the arrest of Claire Villahermosa, a 19-year old ‘HVT’ and her companion Josua Barba,20, after they conspired to sell shabu to an undercover agent. Recovered from the suspects’ possession were nine plastic sachets containing an estimated 315 grams of shabu worth P.142 million and the boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.
