AGENTS of the Cebu City Police Office on Wednesday scored the first major drug haul of the Central Visayas police this year following an operation which led in the arrest of a 25-year old suspected big-time shabu dealer after he sold over P2 million worth of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ to an undercover officer, PRO7 director, Chief Superintendent Debold M. Sinas announced yesterday.
Sinas said that suspect Ivan Matig-a, a resident of Sitio Tugas in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City was arrested after he sold the drugs to a member of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the CCPO near his residence at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday.
Recovered from the suspect’s possession were 17 plastic packets containing around 305 grams of shabu worth P2,074,000 and the boodle money topped by two marked P1,000 bills which he received from the agent.
Sinas congratulated the CCPO headed by Senior Supt. Royina Garma and the CCPO Station 11 DEU led by Chief Inspector Randy Caballes for their latest anti-narcotics accomplishment.
He said that non-bailable charges for selling and possession of dangerous drugs will be filed against the suspect who is now being held in a Cebu City police jail.
