CENTRAL Visayas policemen early evening Tuesday arrested a top female drug personality in the region after she sold over P12 million worth of shabu to an undercover officer in Cebu City, Police Regional Office 7 director, Brigadier General Debold M. Sinas announced yesterday.
In a report to Philippine National Police chief, General Oscar D. Albayalde, the PRO7 director identified the suspect as Ariane Ann Vergara Reyes, a 27-year-old resident of Sitio Galili in Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City.
“We have caught another big fish in the illegal drug industry in Central Visayas in the person of Reyes who is included in our regional list of high-value drug targets,” said Sinas.
According to the official, undercover officers of the Cebu City Drug Enforcement Unit, the Cebu City Police Station 11 DEU, the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Agency and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted the buy-bust operation at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday in Sitio Galili.
Sinas said recovered from the suspect were one medium-size heat-sealed plastic sachet containing shabu which was the object of the buy-bust operation as well as a backpack with 18 plastic packets containing a total of 1.8 kilograms of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P12,240,000 and the P12,000 worth of boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.
The suspect will be facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said the official.
