A 49-year-old gunsmith in Mandaon, Masbate is now in jail after he was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group for firearms’ trafficking, PNP-CIDG director, Major General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said yesterday.
Suspect Jerry Amistoso was placed under arrest after he sold an unlicensed caliber .45 pistol to an undercover officer of the CIDG Masbate Provincial Field Unit in Barangay Dayao in Mandaon municipality at 3 p.m. last Sunday, Coronel said.
Apart from the cal. .45 pistol with three bullets, also recovered from the possession of the suspect were one improvised M-16 rifle with a magazine containing seven live 5.56 ammunition, one improvised 12-gauge shotgun, one cal. 9mm semi-automatic pistol, six cal. .38 revolvers, from shotgun bolts, two Carbine magazines, four Carbine ammunition, one shotgun shell and one .38 ammunition.
