CIDG collars 2 ‘hired guns’

TWO suspected hired guns were arrested by operatives of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in separate buy-bust operations in the countryside on Thursday, PNP-CIDG director, Major General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said yesterday.

One of the two suspects identified as Alfredo Andales was arrested in Purok 5, Barangay Simbuco in Kolambugan, Lanao del Norte by local CIDG and police operatives on the strength of a warrant of arrest for robbery issued by Judge Alan Flores of the Tubod, Lanao del Norte Regional Trial Court Branch 7, said the official.

The 2nd identified as Crispin Otom was arrested by Cebu CIDG operatives with the assistance of the Regional Intelligence Unit 7 and the local police along J. Jayme Street in Bgy. Maguikay in Mandaue City.

Otom was arrested on the basis of a warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 9165 issued by Judge Maximo Perez of the Argao, Cebu RTC Branch 26.

Andales, according to Coronel, is a newly-identified member of the so-called ‘White Dove Group’ engaged in gun-for-hire and robbery activities in Lanao del Norte and its neighboring areas while Otom was described as a member of the ‘Dumaboc Crime Group’ involved in gun-for-hire, gunrunning and illegal drug trafficking activities in Mandaue City.
