TWO known ‘high-value targets’ in Cagayan Valley including a university professor were arrested by the local police in separate buy-bust operations on Friday and Saturday, Cagayan Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Ariel N. Quilang told the Journal Group yesterday.
The two were identified as Roderick Paraiso,40, a teacher from the Cagayan State University residing in Gattaran municipality and Benedict Carag, a 34-year old laborer from Center Northeast in Solana.
In a report to Police Regional Office 2 director, Brigadier General Angelito A. Casimiro, Quilang said Paraiso, an original resident of Paradise Gonzaga, Cagayan was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Aguiguican in Gattaran yesterday.
Officers from the Cagayan PPO’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit led by Major Joefferson Gannaban led the sting which resulted in the confiscation of a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and a marked P500 bill from the teacher who was tagged as a Regional Priority High-Value Individual prior to his arrest.
On the other hand, Carag, also a regional drug target was arrested in an entrapment operation near his residence at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
The suspect yielded three plastic sachets containing the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine,’ a plastic packet with dried marijuana leaves and the boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.
