ANGELES CITY -- A young contractor shot himself during a Christmas party with his family in Barangay Sto. Domingo while a Korean tourist shot himself inside a firing range in Barangay Pulung Maragul here.

Report reaching Police Regional Office 3 director Chief Supt. Joel Napoleon Coronel, identified the victims as Joseph Santos, 28, and Sangyong Sung, 50.

Investigation showed that Santos was having a party with his family on Christmas day in their house in Villa Angela Subdivision when he suddenly went inside the room and retrieved his gun, a cal. .45 Kimber Yunkers pistol and shot the window.

Family members were able to appease him for a while but after several minutes, he went outside and poked his gun to everyone but his brother-in-law was able to hold his hand.

But Santos then pointed the gun to his temple and fired.

He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors.

Sources said that the house was bought several months ago by the suicide victim. The same sources said that there were two other previous cases of suicide in the said house located along Avenue of America street.

At the Mountain Clark Firing Range in Don Bonifacio Subdivision here recently, Sangyong rented a cal. 9mm Norinco and bought 50 rounds of ammunition for target shooting.

But while alone at the firing range’s Bay 7, he reportedly shot himself with the gun, resulting to his death.

Investigators said that a closed circuit television footage had caught the suicide.

It was not known what drove the two men to commit suicide during the celebration of the holiday season.
