Cop conducting anti-drug surveillance hacked

A POLICEMAN conducting an anti-drug surveillance on Monday was repeatedly hacked by a man and his two sons in Sagbayan, Bohol.

PO2 Nelson Cordilla, an intelligence operative of the Sagbayan Municipal Police Station, was on an official mission in Bgy. Sagbayan Sur when suspects Timoteo Orquiza and sons Julius and Leonardo attacked him with a bolo at 8 p.m. on Monday.

Although wounded, the policeman managed to fire at Leonardo hitting the suspect in the stomach while the two other suspects managed to flee on foot.

The wounded suspect was taken to the Catigbian Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment while under police guard.

PO2 Cordilla was brought to the Tagbilaran City Hospital for treatment.

Members of the Sagbayan police and the Provincial Mobile Force Company are tracking down the two suspects, said PRO7 director Chief Supt. Debold Sinas.

The Orquizas will be charged with frustrated murder and assault upon  a person of authority.
