TWELVE men wanted for criminal offenses ranging from drugs, rape and murder in Western Mindanao were arrested by the local police in a series of manhunt operations in the region this week, Police Regional Office 9 director, Brigadier General Froilan F. Quidilla announced yesterday.
In a report to Philippine National Police chief, Director General Oscar D. Albayalde, the official said six of the suspects were arrested for their involvement in illegal drug trafficking in the region. Four of the suspects identified as Mike Laya,40; Mamitua Abualas,43; Jimaa Askalon,25; and her husband Mansol,35, were arrested during a buy-bust operation inside a boarding house in Purok Verbina, Poblacion, Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte last Monday.
Recovered from the suspects were 17 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia, a caliber .45 pistol with 16 live ammunition and three motorcycles.
The 5th suspect identified as Albasir Sayadie, a 49-year old resident of Barangay Lower Calarian in Zamboanga City was arrested during an entrapment operation in Love Drive area at 5:45 p.m. Monday which led in the recovery of some P40,000 worth of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ and the boodle money topped by two marked P100 bills.
