A 3-day marijuana eradication drive in Ting-layan, Kalinga province which started last Thursday led in the uproo-ting and destruction of an estimated P50 million worth of fully-grown cannabis, official said yesterday.
However, no marijuana cultivator was arrested during the operation conducted by combined agents of the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drug Enforce-ment Agency in Barangay Loccong, said PNP Drug Enforcement Group director, Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro.
The official said officers from the PNP-DEG led by Lieutenant Colonels Joseph Bayongasan and Ireneo Dalogdog, joined by members of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office and the PDEA, swooped down on the marijuana sites in Bgy. Loccong in line with their Oplan: Green Pearl Charlie.
Ferro said the operation resulted in the uprooting of more than 240,000 fully-grown marijuana plants in a 14-hectare plantation site. The prohibited crops were burned on site, he said.
