Cops nab 11 for illegal gambling

SAN JOSE CITY – Eleven personalities were rounded up during separate anti-illegal gambling operations conducted on Sunday here.

Seven of those nabbed were caught while playing mahjong in Zone 3, Bgy. Sto. NiHo 1st at 2:15 p.m., said Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno, city police head.

Those arrested were identified as Elma Vigilia, 56; Rodrigo Boncato, 69; Myrna Silan, 70; Rosenda Salvador, 66; Rosalia Barrientos, 70; Lyndo San Roque, 54; and Cynthia Bautista, 51, all of said area.

Seized during the operation were a mahjong set, playing cards, two tables, six chairs and bet money amounting to P909.

In the other anti-illegal gambling operation, Bruno said his men collared four truck drivers playing cards in Zone 3, Bgy. Sto. NiHo 1st at 4:15 p.m.

The arrested suspects were identified as Alexander Soliven, 44, of Bgy. Harana, Luna, Isabela; Ariel Acorda, 44, of Sta. Rita, Aurora, Isabela; Joven Franco, 49, of Bgy. District 2, San Manuel, Isabela; and Joel Vivero,  47, of Bgy. Sta. Rita, Aurora, Isabela.

Confiscated from their possession were bet money totaling P1,453 and a deck of playing cards.

All 11 suspects were brought to the police station for booking and documentation.
