TWENTY-SEVEN suspected drug personalities in Central Visayas were arrested by agents of the Cebu City Police Office in simultaneous conduct of anti-narcotics operations over the past two days, Police Regional Office 7 director, Brigadier General Debold M. Sinas said yesterday.

The 24-hour ‘One-Time, Big-Time’ anti-drug operations which started at 6 p.m. Tuesday saw the local police headed by Colonel Royina Garma conducting 20 buy-bust operations which led in the arrest of 26 suspects and the confiscation of 291 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing nearly 37 grams of shabu valued at P246,000 and P950 in different denominations, said the PRO7 director.

Sinas said that members of the Cebu City Police Station 11 led by Captain Francis Renz Talosig also raided the house of 39-year-old Oniel Condezar in Sitio Puntod Alaska in Barangay Mambaling at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday on the strength of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Pamela Baring of the Cebu City Regional Trial Court Branch 21.

The search resulted in the recovery of two plastic packets containing some 50 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ with a local market value of P340,000 and P8,000 in cash.

Condezar was also arrested during the operation. He and the other suspects will be facing charges for violation of RA 9165, said Sinas.
