TWO armed drug trafficking suspects were killed in a gunbattle with undercover police officers in Cordova, Cebu on Wednesday afternoon, Police Regional Office 7 director, Brigadier General Debold M. Sinas reported yesterday.

Two other companions of slain suspects Arbet Arbellon and Arnel Macan were also arrested while two, including a dismissed policeman, managed to escape during the anti-narcotics operation in Purok Kumpang in Barangay Bangbang, Cordova municipality at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, the Central Visayas police director said.

Citing a report from Cebu Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Roderick Mariano, the official said that Arbellon and Macan, both described as ‘high-value drug targets’ by the local police opened fire at the lawmen after sensing their presence in the area.

Members of the Cordova Municipal Police Station led by Captain Efren Diaz Jr., joined by members of the Cebu Provincial Intelligence Branch led by Lt. Col. Marlou Conag returned fire killing the two suspects on the spot.

Arrested during the operation were Gerlin Perocillo,29, a resident of Purok Sagrada Pamilya in Bgy. Buagsung and Macan’s brother George. The Macan brothers reside in Purok Mahogany in Bgy. Bangbang.

One of the two who managed to flee at the height of the shootout was Lowell Pacalloga alias ‘Boyet,’ said to be an AWOL policeman who is on the radar of the local police for his involvement in big-time illegal drug trafficking activities. The second remained unidentified.
