A COUPLE and a policeman were killed in two separate motorcycle incidents in Mindoro and Negros Occidental, police reported.
Belated reports that reached the Public Commuters and Motorists Alliance (PCMA) said the first incident occurred in Negros Occidental when a speeding van hit a motorcycle in Barangay Lopez Jaena Saturday morning.
Police identified the victims as couple Junnil and Maria Lucil Nabua from Cebu City.
Police said the victims were on their to way to Murcia district to visit their relatives when the accident happened.
The victims were rushed to the hospital but both were declared dead on arrival by the physician.
Police said the still unidentified van driver escaped. The cops are still investigating the incident.
In Occidental Mindoro, a cop was killed after the motorcycle he was riding crashed against a tree Sunday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Ronald Hilario Ani, assigned at Mamburao Municipal Police Station.
Reportedly the victim was negotiating a sharp curve on the highway when his motorbike lost its balance and went straight into the tree.
Ani was thrown several meters away and suffered severe injuries in the body that caused his instant death.
A Motorycycle Association of the Philippines (MAP) official reminded anew motorycle riders to drive safely always.
