A STRING of anti-narcotics operations in Bulacan on Wednesday and yesterday resulted in the killing of an armed drug dealer following a shootout with undercover officers in San Jose del Monte City and the arrest of 10 others, Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Chito Bersaluna said.
The official said that slain suspect Jan Jan Espenida alias ‘Kang Kang,’ a resident of Phase A Ibayo in Barangay Guijo, San Jose del Monte City was also tagged as one of the armed robbers who staged a daring heist at the Star Mall San Jose del Monte City around 7:30 p.m. last Tuesday killing a responding security guard.
He said that Espenida had just sold a packet of shabu to an undercover officer of the San Jose del Monte City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit in his neighborhood at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday when he sensed the presence of cops in the area and immediately fired shots at the poseur but missed.
San Jose del Monte City police chief, Lieutenant Col. Orlando Castil Jr. said that back-up operatives returned fire killing the suspect. Recovered from the possession of the slain suspect were six heat-sealed plastic sachets containing the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine,’ the marked money paid to him by the agent and a caliber .38 revolver with four live ammunition and a spent cartridge.
The 10 other suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Meycuayan City and the municipalities of Marilao, Bocaue and Santa Maria.
They were identified as Mary Ann Palattao,52; Alvin Lavitoria, 42; Cynthia Anesco, 40; Michael Solomon, 44; Levy Berboso, 37; Guillermo de Guzman,61; Jimbob Caparas, 41; Joel de Guzman, 38; Jennifer Yago, 43; and Mark Arbacan, 35.
Recovered from the suspects were 23 packets of shabu and the buy-bust money they received from undercover officers.
All arrested suspects are now facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under R.A 9165.
