A district engineer of the Department of Public Works and Highways was relieved over her alleged involvement in an extortion attempt.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar relieved District Engineer Lorna T. Ricardo after she was caught on video allegedly making an anomalous transaction with a contractor of a road project in Ifugao.

Villar on November 14 ordered Ricardo to immediately vacate her post as district engineer of DPWH Abra District Engineering Office and report to the DPWH Central Office for an  administrative investigation.

The order was issued after Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission Commissioner Greco Belgica showed in a press conference a video of Engineer Ricardo purportedly asking monetary favors from a contractor in exchange for the awarding of the Lagawe-Caba-Ponghal Road Development Project.
