A MAN was killed while 11 others were wounded when a driver-less Mitsubishi Montero plowed into a supermarket’s amusement center Wednesday in Carmona, Cavite.
The fatality was identified as Rollen Sartiel, 22, while those wounded were Myrna Doctor, 51; Nina Marie Morello, 27; Glennis Gianan, 40; Jinky Oborza, 27; Rhalf Oborza, 4; Florabel Medina, 40; Mark Anthony Gonzales,34; Mark Leo Ace Gonzales, 4; Jazz Lano, 6; Cian Laurora Sartiel, 3; and Emma Hunsay, 74.
The driver of the Montero identified as Rosendo Mamucod, 66, was placed under the custody of Carmona Municipal Police Office and charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and slight physical injuries and damage to properties.
Reports reaching Camp Crame said the incident occurred at around 1:30 p.m.
According to the driver, his SUV was in the parking area but for unknown reason, it accelerated by itself and went straight to the supermarket’s amusement center where the victims were playing.
One of the victims died on the spot while the others sustained injuries.
Authorities are now conducting follow-up investigation to determine what caused the vehicle to accelerate.
