A STRING of anti-narcotics operations in Bulacan on Friday resulted in the killing of an armed drug trafficking suspect following a shootout in San Rafael municipality and the arrest of 22 others, Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe said yesterday.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Rhodel O. Sermonia, the official identified the slain suspect as Ian Ramos.
Cajipe said members of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the San Rafael Municipal Police Station under Lieutenant Col. Laurente Acquiot engaged the suspect in a firefight after he sensed the ongoing sting and tried to shoot the poseur but missed.
Recovered from the possession of the slain suspect were a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, a marked P500 bill and a caliber .38 Smith & Wesson revolver with several live ammunition.
Cajipe said the other suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in San Jose del Monte City and the municipalities of San Rafael, Marilao, Calumpit, Bustos and Baliwag.
Recovered from the suspects were 62 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine,’ assorted drug paraphernalia including a digital weighing scale, a marijuana pipe and the buy-bust money they received from undercover officers.
All arrested suspects are now facing charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
