Drug dealer shot dead, 34 nabbed in Cavite

AN  anti-narcotics operation conducted by the Cavite Police Provincial Office early morning Friday left one armed drug trafficking suspect dead following a shootout with officers in Naic,  Police Regional Office 4-A director, Brigadier General Vicente D. Danao Jr. said yesterday.

According to the Calabarzon police chief, suspect Lenard Malabata had just sold a packet of shabu to an undercover officer inside the Ericka Louise Subdivision in Barangay Malainen in Naic around 1:30 a.m. Friday when he sensed the ongoing entrapment operation and tried to shoot the poseur but missed.

Back-up operatives returned fire killing the suspect, Danao said.

Elsewhere in the province, a total of 34 known drug personalities were hauled to jail by the Cavite PPO headed by Colonel Marlon R. Santos following a string of buy-bust operations from Thursday to yesterday.

Santos said that the suspects were arrested in 17 separate anti-drug operations, one of which led to the dismantling of a notorious drug den in Molino-Paliparan Road in Bgy. Salawag in Dasmariñas City at 6:30 p.m. last Thursday.

The Cavite police director said members of the Dasmariñas City Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested the seven suspects identified as Dexter Empeño,19, Leonard Duazo,39, Gilbert Santiago,38, John Lloyd Macalino,21, Alex Gaddi,19, Veronica Mamaril,29, and Maricel Tolosa,30, during the anti-drug raid.

Recovered during the operation were around 15 grams of shabu worth P102,000, several drug paraphernalia and P200 in marked bills.

Santos said that the arrested suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
