TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija -- A driver of provincial board member Belinda Palilio was nabbed on Thursday following a complaint received by the police that he was in possession of a loaded firearm inside the rice mill owned by the Palilios here.
Town police head Supt. Alexie A. Desamito identified the arrested driver as Samuel Cuaresma, 44, single, of Bgy. Cawayan Bugtong, Guimba, Nueva Ecija.
The said driver of board member Palilio was caught in possession of a cal.38 revolver loaded with three bullets when members of a police quick reaction team immediately responded to the area to investigate.
Desamito said the arrest took place inside the Palilio compound in Bgy. San Pascual at 4:30 p.m.
She said the suspect earlier had a heated argument with driver Michael Adriatico, who alerted the police that he saw the former brandishing a cal.38 revolver.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition) and Batas Pambansa 881 (Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines) were filed before the provincial prosecutor’s office against the suspect, who is detained at the police custodial facility here.
