Ecija SP questions lack of safety warning road signs

February 23, 2020

PALAYAN CITY – The Sanggunian Panlalawigan of Nueva Ecija has summoned top officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways to join their regular session to explain the lack of appropriate safety warning signs or devices installed in ongoing government projects in the province.

“Napakaraming pagawain ng DPWH sa Nueva Ecija ngunit kulang na kulang ang mga safety warning devices na makikita sa mga ginagawang kalsada at tulay, nagiging dahilan tuloy ito ng pagkakaroon ng maraming aksidente sa lansangan,” said board member Joseph Ortiz, of the  second district.

It was learned that a motorist from Jaen, Nueva Ecija complained of the inadequate lightings or warnings visible on the construction site especially during the night and also the absence of concerned personnel manning the flow of traffic.

Vice Gov. Emmanuel Antonio M. Umali said the SP will also come out with a resolution directing the Nueva Ecija-DPWH and other concerned national agencies to regularly submit their list of on-going and proposed development projects in the province.

“Nakasaad ito sa Local Government Code na obligado itong gawin ng national offices subalit hindi ito regular na ginagawa,” said Umali.
