SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija – This first-class municipality bagged the prestigious 2019 Seal of Good Local Governance award being given by the Department of Interior and Local Government to deserving local government units which have passed their criteria for seven areas of assessment for this year.

Mayor Arvin C. Salonga broke out the good news to his constituents during his State of the Municipality Address marking his first 100 days for his second term of office at the Dr. Jose Lapuz Salonga Gymnasium here on Monday.

“Hindi po madali ang pagkuha ng nasabing parangal sapagkat para kang dadaan sa butas ng karayom dahil lahat ng aspeto ng paglilingkod ay sisilipin ng DILG, maging ang sukat pati ng kubeta o palikuran ay sinusukat para ubrang magamit ng may kapansanan,” the mayor said.

Also gracing Salonga’s SOM address were members of the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Julie Maxwell, municipal department heads led by administrator Atty. Hilario Ortiz, Dep-Ed officials, and principals, police and barangay officials, senior citizens, purok, and tricycle and driver association leaders.

Also present was Atty. Arnold P. Castro, the municipal government’s erstwhile legal counsel and now-the chief of staff of neophyte 4th district Rep. Maricel Natividad-Nagaño, wife of San Leonardo mayor Elan Nagaño.

Aside from San Antonio, the other LGUs which won the SGLG award were the 10 towns of Bongabon, Cabiao, Cuyapo, Llanera, Nampicuan, Rizal, San Leonardo, Sta. Rosa, Talavera, and Zaragosa and the three cities of San Jose, Muñoz, and Palayan.

During his SOM address, Salonga outlined the 10-point agenda of his administration towards achieving its goals for the development and progress of this town and its people for this year and beyond.

The mayor said this will focus on various programs about peace and order, health, agriculture, environment, education, youth and sports, governance, infrastructure, and his transparency goals, including his commitment for a more unified San Antonio with the rendering of a truthful and genuine service for the people.
