PEŇARANDA, Nueva Ecija – More than 100 employees of the municipal government including the job order workers here were subjected to a surprise drug test on Monday in the aftermath of the P1.8-million drug bust conducted by the police against one of the municipal employees here on Nov. 8.
Mayor Joselito “Joey” Ramos led the drug test himself saying that at least 98 percent of the employees undertook the random drug test with the results coming out either Thursday or Friday.
The drug test was conducted eight days after the police nabbed Larry Torres, 46, alias Puga, of Poblacion IV, on Monday night.
Torres, a job order employee of the LGU assigned at the public market, was caught in possession of shabu worth P1.8 million.
The former vice mayor-turned mayor said that about a month prior to the suspect’s arrest he already warned Capt. Williard Dulnuan, his chief of police, to produce positive results against illegal drugs amid reports that a “shabu talipapa” allegedly exists in the town.
