PEŇARANDA, Nueva Ecija – A day after the municipal hall was closed and office work was suspended to give way to disinfection activities against COVID-19, Mayor Joselito A. Ramos ordered an extension of the lockdown for another nine days starting April 8, Thursday afternoon until April 16.
In his administrative order to all departments and offices, Ramos cited the “rising number of municipal employees” who already contracted the COVID-19 disease and the municipal health officer’s recommendation in ordering the temporary work suspension on the said given dates.
The mayor said the nine-day lockdown period will be devoted in conducting contact-tracing and cleaning/disinfection activities of the entire compound of the town hall and its adjacent structures.
“All employees are expected to refrain from doing unnecessary travels and making contacts with large group of people,” Ramos said.
As of its latest FB posting, the LGU reported 24 active COVID-19 cases with 11 recorded in Bgy. Sinasajan, four cases each in Bgys. Poblacion 2, San Josef, and Sto. Tomas and one in Poblacion 1.
Ramos said an employee of the rural health unit tested positive for the virus after going to work on March 26. Due to this, check-ups of patients will be done through web-based application/telemedicine while those giving birth shall be referred to the nearest hospital.
Earlier, Ramos issued Executive Order No. 8, imposing localized containment or granular lockdown on Liwasan Street in Bgy. Sinasajan and Padilla Street in Bgy. Poblacion 2 for a period of 14 days as a precautionary measure against the possible spread of the virus in the area.Publication Source : People's Tonight
