TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija -- A 36-year-old trader engaged in the buy-and-sell of used cars, who was nabbed during an earlier anti-illegal drugs operation, was served an arrest warrant for murder at about an hour shortly after his arrest on Wednesday night here.

Police head Lt. Col. Alexie A. Desamito said her men conducted a buy-bust operation against businessman Michael Bernabe, of Burgos St., Bgy. Poblacion, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija and yielded positive results following the seizure of illegal drugs and an unlicensed firearm from him.

The drug sting was made in Bgy. San Miguel na Munti at 9:58 p.m. wherein police anti-drug operatives were able to buy two plastic sachets of shabu worth P1,000 from the suspect.

Also seized from the suspect’s possession were eight plastic sachets containing shabu, a cal.38 revolver with six bullets, the P1,000 buy-bust money, and the suspect’s blue mini Pajero with plate number XBS-484.

However, at about 10:50 p.m., while Bernabe was being booked after his arrest for drugs, Desamito said her warrant officer Senior Master Sgt. Joselito Ramos received a warrant of arrest for murder against him which was issued on Sept. 3, 2019 by regional trial court judge Elenita N. Evangelista-Casipit of RTC Branch 36, Gapan City, with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty.

Desamito said the arrested suspect, who is facing a separate case for violation of R.A. 9165 and R.A. 10591, is now placed behind bars for proper disposition.
