Ecija’s No. 5 most wanted arrested in Bulacan

LAUR, Nueva Ecija – A most wanted felon with an arrest warrant for frustrated murder finally fell in police’s hands after more than nine years in hiding in San Miguel, Bulacan, police said on Monday.

Town police head Captain Jonathan Romero said his men and members of the San Miguel police led by its deputy chief Capt. Marvin Miravelles jointly conducted the manhunt operation that led to the arrest of Almario Sanqui, 70, of Bgy. 1V, this town.

The suspect's arrest was carried out in Bgy. Sapang, San Miguel, Bulacan last Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

Romero said his team coordinated with the San Miguel police for the implementation of the arrest warrant for frustrated murder issued against the suspect by Judge Evelyn A. Atienza-Turla, of the Palayan City RTC Branch 40 on March 24, 2011 with a recommended bail of P120,000 for his temporary liberty.

The police captain identified the suspect's victim as Verny Veneracion, of Bgy. Uno. He was stabbed by the suspect during a heated altercation.

Romero said the suspect was ranked number five in the list of top ten priority targets for neutralization for this year and is also included in the top 15 most wanted men at the municipal level by the police.

The arrested suspect has been taken into custody for proper disposition.
