Faith healer shot dead in Ecija

STO. DOMINGO, Nueva Ecija – A local albularyo (faith healer) was gunned down by unidentified riding-in-tandem suspects inside her backyard on Wednesday night here.

Police head Maj. Abraham Atencio identified the slain victim as Melinda Tamayo, 69, widow, of Purok 5, Bgy. Pulong Buli.

The gun attack was perpetrated by two men riding a black-red motorcycle without license plates at 7:30 p.m.

Atencio said the faith healer was with her sister Marianita Martin seated at the backyard in front of the house while drinking coffee when the unidentified suspects went inside and with no apparent reason suddenly one of them drew his gun and shot the victim repeatedly before fleeing towards the direction of Baloc, Sto. Domingo.

He said the victim was rushed to the Sto. Domingo District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Emmanuel Hidalgo.

Police are still clueless about the motive of the attack.
