Farmer slain, trader hurt

CABANATUAN CITY -- A 46-year-old farmer was shot dead while a businessman-cum-mall manager was wounded in two separate gun attacks perpetrated by motorcycle-riding suspects in Nueva Ecija last Thursday.

In Sto. Domingo town, police identified the slain farmer as Joey Antonio, of Bgy. San Francisco.

Town police chief, Maj. Abraham Atencio said he was on his way home driving a motorcycle when suddenly two unidentified men on board a black motorcycle appeared and shot the victim several times before fleeing towards Talavera town.

Atencio said the victim was dead on the spot during the said gun attack which occurred at 5:45 a.m.

In this city, police head Lt. Col.Ponciano Zafra said Abelardo Imperio, 37, of Bgy. Daan Sarile,  was shot twice by an unidentified man in front of the Shots Bar along the Nueva Ecija-Aurora Road in Bgy. Bantug Norte at 8:30 p.m.

Zafra said the businessman-victim, who is the customer relations manager of SM Megacenter mall here sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to the Good Samaritan Hospital for emergency treatment.  

Police said the motives for the twin gun attacks are still being investigated.
