Farmer surrenders loose guns

September 06, 2019

SIXTEEN assorted loose firearms on Thursday were voluntarily surrendered to the local police during a series of anti-criminality and anti-insurgency operations in Cebu City.

Police Regional Office 7 director Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas said the weapons were turned over to the  Cebu City Mobile Force Company by Mark Villardo, a 33-year-old farmer from Bgy. Lusaran, Cebu City.

The surrender of the illegal firearms came in the aftermath of  a three-day operation in the hinterland barangays of Lusaran, Tagba-o and Adlaon.

Sinas said that during the operation, local policemen called on all unauthorized gun holders to surrender their weapons and face no charges.

After hearing the police pronouncements, the holders of the illegal firearms sought the help of Villardo and asked him to call his policemen-friends and relay to them their intention of surrendering their guns.
