Fire leaves 5,000 people homeless in Bacoor

BACOOR CITY, Cavite - A fire early yesterday morning broke out in Wawa Uno, Zapote 5, this city while the entire country is in enhanced community quarantine due to coronavirus (COVID-2019) pandemic.

The fire, which left 1,050 families or around 5,000 individuals homeless, started at 1:59 a.m. yesterday and reached 4th alarm. 

There were no reports of deaths and injuries in the fire which was declared out at 5:43 a.m. of the same day.

The Bureau of Fire Protection is investigating what started the blaze.

According to the BFP, the fire destroyed 350 homes in the city.

Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla immediately assisted the fire victims, who sought temporary shelter at Longos Elementary School, Aniban Elementary School, Talaba Elementary School, and Zapote Elementary School.

To implement social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19, each classroom only accommodates one family.
