Fisher abducted, shot dead

MONREAL, Masbate -- A 31-year-old fisherman identified as Dante Almencion Baldeo, a resident of remote Sitio Cueva, Barangay Guinhadap in this town, was abducted by two armed men from his home and shot to death a short distance away.

The victim’s father, Danilo Baldeo, reported the killing of his son to the Monrela MPS on Friday, with one of the suspects identified as Eleseo Cabarles.

According to the older Baldeo, the suspects threatened them in the local dialect, “maghali kamu digdi, kun maagahan pa kamo, uubuson namo kamo!” (“You better leave before morning break, or else we will kill you all!”)

A case of murder was already filed against the suspects before the Masbate Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Masbate City.

Meanwhile, George Alegre Danar, 25, a farmer and resident of Badiang, Cataingan, Masbate died from multiple stab wounds, which stemmed from a mere argument during a drinking spree, the Cataingan MPS reported on Friday.

Local barangay tanods arrested the suspects — Deonito Abilong Mulat, 39, farmer and Eucibio Poligrates Magallanes, 38, both residents of Barangay Badiang.

The suspects are now facing murder charges before the Masbate Prosecutor’s Office.
