Forest ranger hurt in gun attack

SAN JOSE CITY – A forest ranger of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Nueva Ecija is now in critical condition after being shot and wounded by an unidentified motorcycle-riding man here on Friday night.

City police head, Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno, said forest ranger Ronaldo Corpuz, 43, assigned with the DENR-Muñoz Science City office was closing the gate of their house in Zone 6, Bgy. Villa Joson at 7:25 p.m. when the unidentified suspect came and pulled out a gun and shot him repeatedly in different parts of the body.

The suspect escaped on board a motorcycle towards an unknown direction while the wounded victim was rushed to the nearby Heart of Jesus Hospital here and later transferred to the Premiere General Hospital in Cabanatuan City for further medical treatment.

Recovered at the crime scene were three fired catridge cases for cal. 45 pistol said Bruno.

He said they are still clueless about the motive for the shooting and the identity of the gunman.
