GAPAN CITY – City Mayor Emerson “Emeng” D. Pascual and his sister who is a provincial board member, tested negative for COVID-19 but three of their immediate family members contracted the virus, it was learned.
The mayor and Board Member Joy Pascual went live over Facebook on Tuesday night and said they both are now on a voluntary 14-day quarantine despite being tested negative for COVID-19 infection.
Mayor Pascual also reported that his wife Judee and both his parents – Barangay Captain Rodrigo “Boy” Pascual and mother Cristina — have contracted the virus but are asymptomatic and are in good condition.
The mayor said he and his sister tested negative for the virus but they still have to follow the 14-day quarantine protocol of the Department of Health against COVID-19.
He assured his constituents that he will be back after the 14-day quarantine period.
“Huwag po kayo mag-alala, patuloy ako magtatrabaho at pagkatapos ng quarantine ko magkikita-kita uli tayo sa labas. Patuloy akong magtatrabaho para sa inyo,” said Pascual, adding that he has been living in a separate house away from his own family.
The FB live post by the mayor generated thousands of reactions from netizens, mostly praying for him and the early recovery of his loved ones.
The mayor, a partymate of President Duterte at the ruling PDP-Laban, is also rumored to be eyeing the fourth district congressional post in the 2022 polls.
