LUCENA CITY – Police Regional Office 4-A (Calabarzon- Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) director Brig. Gen. Edward Carranza yesterday said the “gates of hell” are open for criminals in the region as he assured that police will remain committed to serve and protect the people.
Carranza issued the statement during yesterday’s 118th Police Service Anniversary celebration held at Camp Vicente Lim in Canlubang, Calamba, Laguna.
The region’s top cop directed his five provincial directors to “open the gates of hell” for criminals in Calabarzon.
He said more criminals will fall and more lawless elements will leave Calabarzon.
Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Carranza’s mistah, was the guest of honor and speaker during the event, which was also graced by local chief executives of Region 4-A led by Sta. Rosa City Mayor Arlene Arcillas, chairman of the Calabarzon Regional Advisory Council; Laguna Gov. Ramil Hernandez and wife, Laguna 2nd district Rep. Ruth Mariano-Hernandez.
According to Carranza, despite the adversities they are facing right now, the police will remain committed to serve and protect the community and share the blessings of a peaceful and progressive Calabarzon.
He said policemen should be worthy of the trust of the people.
“We must start from ourselves, for we cannot win the trust of the people if our uniforms are soiled with dust,” Carranza said.
The official said it is for this reason why since his assumption as regional director, he immediately implemented the Revitalized Internal Cleansing Program, which led to the dismissal from the service of 181 police personnel, the suspension of 330 officers and demotion of 30 others involved in various offenses.
“As a fair warning to everyone, I will not hesitate to punish more policemen, if they fail to live up to our professional standards,” said Carranza.
He also reported the command’s achievement on its anti- illegal drug campaign.
Since June 2018 to August 31 this year, Carranza said they have recorded a total of 17,739 operations, leading to the arrest of 27,688 drug suspects and the seizure of 357, 638.50 grams of shabu, 19,342 grams of cocaine, 38, 562.78 grams of marijuana and two liters of liquid ecstacy, with an estimated total value of P4.1 billion.
He also mentioned the arrest of 1,693 most wanted persons and 9,206 other wanted felons during the period.
On criminal gangs, Carranza said 160 members out of 345 were arrested and accounted for.
“Let me assure everyone that more criminals will fall, more will be accounted, and many more will leave Calabarzon because I have directed my five provincial directors to open the gates of hell and accommodate these bad elements,” the feisty regional director said.
