CONTROVERSIAL actor Gerald Anderson and nine other actors finished a three-day Soldier Skills Orientation Training and received the rank of Private.

Philippine Army spokesman Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said the training was conducted at the First Scout Ranger Regiment in Camp Tecson, San Miguel, Bulacan.

Zagala said the training is in preparation for the upcoming show of the actors.

Among those who underwent training were Elmo Magalona, Yves Flores, Nash Victoriano, Joseph Porciuncula, Ryan Laurino, Jeanifer Aniscal, Jumar Aniscal, Jalil Laidan and Anthea Murfet.

Philippine Army commanding general Lt. Gen. Macairog  Alberto graced the event as the guest of honor and speaker and  conferred the rank of private in the Army Reserve Component to the actors.

Anderson expressed his gratitude for being given the opportunity to train with the Scout Rangers.

“Nakita namin ang kahalagahan ng mga ginagawa ng ating mga sundalo. Nakakatulog kami ng mahimbing dahil sa inyo, dahil nand’yan kayo para pangalagaan ang aming seguridad. Hindi namin makakalimutan ang mga aral na natutunan namin dito,” he said.

Alberto welcomed the new reservists.

“Only those who have undergone a glimpse of a rigorous training of a soldier, can understand and appreciate the great sacrifice that they give for peace and stability of our country. Now that you are reservists of the Philippine Army, you also have taken on the responsibility to support our government in securing the peace and promoting the national development efforts. We ask you to help us in portraying our soldiers in the upcoming TV series that you will be a part of,” said Alberto.

“Bilang mga Army Reservists, kayo rin ang magsisilbing mabuting halimbawa sa ating mga kabataan na nagnanais ding maglingkod sa bayan,” Alberto said.
