POLICE probing a grenade blast in Kalinga on Sunday held for questioning a local computer shop owner in connection with the explosion which resulted in injuries to one of the man’s employees,

Philippine National Police chief, General Debold M. Sinas informed Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo M. Año that the blast at the HED Computer Repair Shop located in Purok 6, Bulanao, Tabuk City in Kalinga injured 39-year old Allen Chaclag.

Following the explosion, local policemen placed under questioning the shop owner identified as Rey Domallig,39.

Initial investigation showed that Domallig rigged the top frame of the inner backdoor of his shop with an MK2 grenade in an apparent effort to ‘booby-trap’ his establishment against thieves.

Around 7:45 a.m. Sunday, Chaclag accidentally tripped the booby trap causing it to explode when he reported for work.

Sinas said that Tabuk bomb disposal experts rushed to the site and looked for other explosives.

Sinas said that Chaclag is already in stable condition in a local hospital while Domallig is under the custody of the Tabuk City Police Station facing criminal charges for illegal possession of explosives and frustrated murder.
