ILIGAN City policemen have arrested a security guard of a lending firm in Iligan City accused of stealing P600,000 from the company last August 31, Police Regional Office 10 director, Brigadier General Rolando B. Anduyan reported yesterday.
The suspect identified as Ronnie Artajo was placed under arrest on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued against him by Judge Fe Jimeno-Dajao of the Iligan City Regional Trial Court Branch 1, said the official.
According to Anduyan, the accused was arrested in Barangay Pugaan in Iligan City following a tip from a concerned citizen.
The official said that last August 29, the branch manager of the FJH Lending Corporation with office at Abalos Building in Aguindalao Street, Poblacion, Iligan City reported that their office was burglarized by still unidentified suspects.
An investigation showed that the suspect stole P600,000 from the drawer of the company’s cashier. Anduyan said that investigators who reviewed the company’s CCTV footage discovered that it was Artajo who entered the office that time.
During questioning, the suspect broke down and confessed his involvement in the theft case. The suspect also led police to his house where officers recovered P508,000 of the stolen P600,000 cash, the money found buried underneath the residence of the suspect.
