Gunman hurts 2 in Pagadian attack

POLICE have launched a massive hunt for a motorcycle-riding gunman who shot and seriously wounded two ordinary workers in a daring attck in Pagadian City shortly before midnight Tuesday.

The Police Regional Office 9 identified the victims as Amir Mohammad, a 25-year old dishwasher in a local ‘carenderia’ and Radzmer Alawi, 25, a laborer.

An investigation showed that the two victims were sitting outside the Laja Building located along Ariosa Street corner Pulmones St. in Purok Tulingan, Santiago District in Pagadian City at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday when the suspect who was on board a motorbike being driven by an unidentified companion arrived.

The suspect who was wearing a gray t-shirt with a ‘human face/head’ printed on it and a pair of short pants alighted from the motorcycle which was parked by the driver some three meters away from the victims.

He then talked with the victims before pulling out a caliber .45 pistol from his waistline and firing at the two without any provocation. Mohammad, a resident of Purok Uno, Poblacion Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur was shot in the right leg while Alawi, a temporary resident of the Laja Building suffered a gunshot wound in the left face and another at the back of the neck.

Both victims were taken to the Alisah Hospital in San Pedro District in Pagadian City for treatment.

PRO9 director, Brigadier General Froilan Quidilla said that members of the Pagadian City Police Station are still tracking down the suspects. Charges for attempted murder will be initially filed against them, the official said.
